This delectable dessert was so sweet with chocolate that I was immediately addicted. But I was surprised at how balanced the sandwich tasted despite being pretty much 90% meat. The corn salad on the side was also a much-needed, very refreshing treat. I have to admit I am not the biggest fan of beets, but the way they are prepared here is like no other beet dish I have ever tasted. Carnitas' Snack Shack Embarcadero opens May 16. Overall, a very pleasant torta. Everything was fresh, made upon order and executed with care.
Blind Lady Ale House is a festive pub in Normal Heights. The pork carnitas are extremely tender and will actually make your mouth pucker. You can rest assured that he respects his animals sourcing from sustainable and ethical farms as well. Apparently there are long lines during peak hours, but I came here for a late lunch and was able to avoid the wait and crowd. The space includes a spacious bar serving up wine, beer, and snacks also pork-focused like chicharrones and pork belly. The kitchen was incredibly tiny for the quality they bring and volume they do, but nothing feels mass produced and the things I tried where made with love. In true southern California fashion, 100% of the seating is in an outdoor area out back that's shaded by umbrellas and wooden roofs.
It is good for 2. Both are ahhmazing choices, by the way. It just seems too easy to make at home, but this convinced me otherwise. Made with grilled blackened mahi-mahi, mixed greens, tartar sauce and arugula — these tasty fish tacos are as good as any you will find in the area. The biggest news is probably the inclusion of a fully stocked, 28-person bar whole restaurant seats 195 , with craft cocktails by Mai Pham ex Prepkitchen and a focus on citrus-based cocktails to cut through all that meaty, smoky food.
Plus, the line moves quickly, thanks to employees who are both efficient and extremely nice. This is a casual indoor-outdoor eatery, and you can sit by the heater if you get chilly. It was in the quality of ingredients and they have some well thought out original menu items. Overall, I really enjoyed my dining experience here. The Triple Threat Pork Sandwich is piled high with all the porky pieces you love: pork loin schnitzel, pulled pork and bacon with a healthy portion of Pepperoncini Relish and Shack Aioli. The menu is simple and there are no fancy cooking techniques, but they just know good food. It was generous slices of ribeye which is way more flavourful than tenderloin. It was slow food made fast and the standard was sit-down farm to table restaurant quality.
The place is literally a shack, with ordering window in front and open sitting area in the back. Our menu transforms these thoughtfully sourced ingredients into high-end culinary creations from the minds of chefs with fine-dining backgrounds. The goat cheese and balsamic glaze make it outstanding. The original North Park location opened in 2011 and next came Carmel Valley. The specialty cocktail and wine list here is amazing — so all you have to do is pick what you like best and you are sure to enjoy. With the most beautiful weather, people, sounds and views… you can just sit back and relax. That is music to my ears!
